Youre hillarious I love this , thanks for making me laugh aloud at 4 a.m BTW: I love design blogs LOL - in fact , Ive begun one myself however , to each his own David . I wish you much future success within all of your life & career endeavors - and stay away from those dastardly design blogs ! darned confounded designers !
Amen. I mean, really. Sometimes they’re helpful and I’m totally into them. Other times, I’m like, “Gag me, I’ve seen so many “57343 WAYS TO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A BAD DESIGNER.” Nice site, by the way. I’m from Louisiana originally.
@Mia - First of all, thanks for the comment; glad I could make you smile. Secondly, don’t let the title of this post fool you too much, I do still read Design blogs and there are tons of them putting out some great content. I link to a bunch down in the footer of my site. But I’ve had it with this recent wave of lists and roundups. Bloggers know they drive traffic, because they know people can’t resist seeing a “best of” list (even if they don’t actually learn anything from it).
I think its time to return to our roots, where we just publish good, originalcontent.

Please. Design world. Stop perpetuating the regurgitation trend of cluttered posts low on original content. Some say it drives traffic, I say it clutters up twitter feeds with links and RTs and I’d wager maybe 5% of the people actually read 50% of it. If by some change I’m duped into seeing a listpost, I bookmark it with some keywords that pertain to me searching for it later and close it after 5 seconds. That bookmark then collects dust. No offense to those of you who post or have posted lists. I’m just tired of it.

Lists drive traffic. A lot of traffic (sometimes…)
David Link | August 12th, 2009 at 5:03 pm
That may be true. But they’re cluttering up my internets.

Internet, we’re better than this.
