About me

Hello. My name is David Link.

I am a 24 year old Web Designer/Developer living and working in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I’m currently employed at Gatorworks Web Design as Creative Director. I am an advocate for web standards and practice fully-compliant (X)HTML & CSS. I am passionate about the future of web design and I strive to share that passion with others through my words and my work.

In my work, I specialize in creating clean, approachable web sites and user interfaces. I achieve this by focusing primarily on the user’s perspective, and allowing the aesthetics to come as a function of that designed experience.

I graduated from Louisiana State University in 2007 with a BFA in Graphic Design. I have been designing professionally since 2003, but have been teaching myself about design and web programming since I was 12 years old.

I am available for freelance work, and in the past have served many clients across the country as well as Canada and the UK.

About this site

I created Upsidestudio as an outlet for some creative overflow, as a testing ground for some of my concepts, as a means to distribute resources, and as a way to force myself to write more. I cover many web-related topics including design, front-end development (HTML, CSS, Javascript), other aspects of other web programming (primarily WordPress/PHP), and social media. I offer advice, opinions, reviews, critiques, snippits, clips, pics, shortcuts, hacks, graphics, features, and a whole bunch of other crap.

This site is written in clean XHTML and crisp CSS with just a smack of jQuery. This site’s content is published by the all-powerful WordPress.
